Homestay Programs

Your first class is an orientation during which time you will get familiar with your homestay schedule, host family, and any other students. This is followed by a tour of the house and time to settle into your room.

English activities are divided into three periods. Morning, afternoon, and evening. Due to changing weather or other circumstances, your activities may change during your stay. For example, a morning hike may change to an afternoon hike.

• Let's cook! Students prepare a meal while building vocabulary pertaining to food preparation.
• Let's bake! Students prepare a dessert while building vocabulary pertaining to baking.
• State to State. Students learn interesting facts about several major States.
• Global awareness. Students learn interesting facts about several major countries.
• Culture exchange. Students present information about their life and interests in Japan.
• Treasure hunt nature hike. Students engage in a Q&A treasure hunt while hiking in the local forest.
• Outdoor game time. Students learn popular schoolyard games.
• Interactive game time. Students creatively use their English while participating in quizzes, action games, and board games.
• Craft time. Our craft projects consist of recycling everyday items and turning them into decorative or useful objects.

• Home-life vocabulary building Students build vocabulary throughout the course of their stay by engaging in activities such as bed making, table setting, etc.
• Food boards During lunch and dinner a miniature class is given to inform the students about the cultural and historical facts of the meal being served.
• Memory book To help you get the most out of your homestay program we provide you with a Memory Book. You will use the Memory Book throughout your stay as a journal, a learning aid, and as part of some of the activities and games. When completed the Memory Book will provide you with a colorful log of your experiences which you can share with your family and friends when you return home.
